Purpose
This Risk Disclosure Policy is provided by Liberty Platform PTY LTD (ACN 694 912 126) to inform users of the Platform at libertystone.com.au of the material risks associated with accessing financial products and services through the Platform.
You should read this Policy carefully before making any investment or financial decision.
This Policy does not purport to identify every risk relevant to your personal circumstances, and you should seek independent financial, legal, and tax advice before making any investment decision.
All investments are subject to market risk, meaning the value of an investment may decrease due to changes in market prices, interest rates, foreign exchange rates, or broader economic conditions.
Some investments available through the Platform may be difficult or impossible to sell, redeem, or exit at a time of your choosing, particularly alternative investments and certain managed investment schemes.
You are also exposed to counterparty risk, being the risk that a brokerage partner, custodian, payment provider, or fund manager may fail to meet their obligations.
Investing a significant proportion of your assets in a single investment, asset class, sector, or region increases concentration risk and may lead to significant loss.
The regulatory environment governing financial services and superannuation may change and affect investment value, service availability, or the tax treatment of returns.
Securities Risk
Shares and equity investments may fall in value due to company-specific events or broader market movements. In the event of company insolvency, ordinary shareholders rank behind creditors and may receive no return of capital.
Exchange traded funds and managed funds carry additional risks including tracking error, fund manager risk, delayed valuations, and the possibility that the fund itself may be wound up.
Investments in overseas-listed securities are also subject to foreign exchange movements, differing corporate governance standards, differing accounting frameworks, and political or sovereign risk in the relevant jurisdiction.
Returns on cash deposits and yield products are subject to changes in prevailing interest rates, and falling rates may reduce the return on cash-based products.
If you hold multi-currency balances or make investments denominated in foreign currencies, fluctuations in exchange rates can affect the value of those balances when converted to Australian dollars.
AUD client funds are held with a licensed and regulated financial institution via our payment infrastructure partner, but those funds are not held in a retail deposit product and may not be covered by the Financial Claims Scheme.
SMSF trustees remain ultimately responsible for all investment decisions made within their fund. The Platform provides tools, information, and access to financial products, but does not accept investment management responsibility.
SMSF trustees must ensure that all investments are made in accordance with the fund's Investment Strategy, the SIS Act, and applicable ATO guidance.
Superannuation benefits are subject to strict preservation rules, and trustees should not assume that SMSF assets can be accessed for personal use.
All SMSF investments must also comply with the sole purpose test under the SIS Act, and failure to do so may result in fund disqualification and significant tax penalties.
Platform outages, software errors, cyber attacks, or failures of third-party infrastructure could temporarily or permanently affect your ability to access, manage, or withdraw your investments.
The Platform maintains business continuity plans and security controls, but no system is immune from failure.
The Platform also relies on a range of third-party service providers for payments, brokerage execution, identity verification, and compliance monitoring, and failure of any such provider could affect Platform services.
No Advice
This Policy and all other content available on the Platform constitutes general information only and does not constitute personal financial advice.
You should seek independent professional advice from a licensed financial adviser, accountant, or solicitor before making any investment decision.
